Those deep well cookers (the pot that is sunk into the stove) worked like a crock pot. On the front side, in front of the cooker was a small oven/broiler. Often the range (either the back or the side of the range) were placed on an outside wall with a direct vent fan to the outside. It was easy to clean (compared to the over the range hood exhaust fans today -- If there is even an exhaust pipe/fan nowadays, rather than just circulating air through a (steel honeycomb) filter that has to be cleaned.

FINALLY! We used to watch this in middle school in the 70s when we had a substitute. It was a different print that had duotone coloring for each segment. I kept looking for “Point of View”.

Great message! Today we tell alcoholics its not their fault, its a disease. All Lies! Its 100% on them! And worse yet we have AA that keeps people believing they are always drunkards, they just dont drink anymore, and cannot stay sober without them, another lie!

I really like the "lift top" refrigerator. People actually do a DIY using a deep freezer. I never thought of having it as a part of the counter, and I like that. It just conserves cold so sensibly. Dairy & meat on the bottom, misc, then fruit and veg on top. At a money sparse time in my life I was going to build one. People give away freezers all the time, so it would just cost me parts and little bits of electricity after. I didn't know that this was once a real appliance.

by 21st century standards our kitchens are bare minimum and substandard by comparisons in terms of capabilities compared to these kitchens in the 1940's it's a shame we live in a quantity over quality world today whereas last century cared about both being equal in terms of aesthetics and longevity usage.
